As 2018 draws to a close I thought it would be nice to look back on this years ‘ Jilly’s Jaunts’.
After a busy Christmas and New Year January was a very quiet month for the McIntosh family. With the cold and damp weather we did not go far but visited one of our local beauty spots Healey Dell For walks and lunches.
February saw me spending some valuable ‘mother and daughter’ time with Fiona. I was only visiting for a couple of days but we had a most enjoyable day at Brighton. I have never visited here before and although it was a very cold day the weather stayed dry and we had a fabulous days visit.
March saw the start of a busy month. We began the month by – Popping into Peebles.
and the end of the month was a most enjoyable few days visiting Fiona who was working on ‘Sunset Boulevard’ in Trieste – Italy.
April – we had a very quick and very cold 48 hours visit to Venice.
May – and we are not going far as we are preparing for our main summer break with the caravan. However, it did see me rebuilding my confidence on my bike after falling and breaking my wrist the previous summer. Getting back on my bike.
June – and we are heading ‘South’. First stop is a ‘proud mum moment at Chichester Festival Theatre. Fiona is a Deputy Wardrobe Mistress here for the season. Then continued south into France and the Loire Valley
Then even further south to my favourite of all places Canet en Roussillon
July – We cross the border and venture into Spain. This will be our first visit here and we were not disappointed with our stay. We were feeling calm in Cambrils. Whilst in this region we had a fabulous day visit to Tarragona.
August – we spent at home but not for long.
September – and we are sipping Champagne in Champagne.
before travelling into the the Loire Valley and Loches
This holiday was quickly followed by
October – was a mini break for my little sister and myself to Newcastle Upon Tyne.
November – This time I am headed to Birmingham for a city break with one of my oldest friends and a festive time at Birmingham’s Bull Ring and the Christmas Market
December – our last trip of the year and we travelled to London to spend some family time with our daughter and son-in-law to be.
We couldn’t have finished our year any better way than a visit to a pantomime and a visit to ‘Winter Wonderland – Hyde Park.
I do hope you have enjoyed ‘Jilly’s Jaunts’, who knows where next year will take us. We have some plans but I am keeping those secret for now.
Finally I wish you all a very happy and healthy ‘New Year’ .
With love – Jill and James x
