There are numerous reasons why we wear perfumes, but ultimately it boils down to the fact that they make us feel happy. The reason we feel happy depends on the individual, but can range from memories the scent invokes, a feeling of escape, and the ability to show individuality through fragrances.

I have a favourite which I would like to share with you.  The perfume I constantly return to is one which was a gift over 40 years ago

Introduced in 1969, Azurée was inspired by the Mediterranean warmth near Mrs. Estée Lauder’s vacation home in Cap d’Antibes, off the coast of France.

Known as the sunlit fragrance, it has a vibrant tang of citrus and a earthy richness, the feeling is of sunlight and a rich warmth.  There are notes of Basil, Jasmine and Citrus.

When asked to describe Azurée, Mrs. Lauder said, “Azurée is a golden girl, languorously basking in the warm Mediterranean sun. She is the eternal optimist spreading sunshine everywhere she goes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

In recent years Estee Lauder has repackaged this original fragrance into a more modern bottle.  How I wish they would bring back the little extras that were a part of this fragrance.  Soap, deodorant and talcum powder were originally also available in this range.

The biggest reason we wear fragrances is to show off our individuality.  With so many fragrances to choose from a person can be original in what they decide to wear.  They can change the way they smell to match their mood, the occasion, or anything they like.

The ability of a fragrance can make us feel desired, connect us with memories, help us to escape and help us show our individuality.

The biggest reason we wear fragrances, is to show off our individuality. With so many fragrances to choose from a person can be original in what they decide to wear.   They can change the way they smell to match their mood, the occasion, or anything they like.

    1. I tried ‘La Vie est Belle’ whilst we were on holiday in France quite a few years ago (I think it was newly out) it is a beautiful scent. My problem is they change their fragrance on my skin and have no lasting scent – however, with Azuree I have no problem

  7. That’s funny I was just talking about perfumes with some girl friends today. I have about 6 I like to wear, and circulate wearing them. They all evoke feelings as to when I first wore them, it’s so nice to have that. They are mainly holidays when I’ve worn them and it’s nice to re-visit those times. My favourite is Donna by Valentino, my all time favourite Opium – reminds me of my mother-in-law. xx Thanks for sharing, adding and inspiring. x Jacqui

  8. I love those! My favorite is Dolce and Gabanna Light Blue and I’ve also really been loving Chance by Channel. They are the only two that don’t eventually give me a headache. Usually it’s one bottle then I need to find something new.

  9. Many of the perfumes give me headaches either very quickly or by the end of the day, so I’m careful about what I wear. The one I usually wear is Daisy by Marc Jacobs. A friend once gave me a sampler of scented oils that produced different feelings depending on what you wore. I’m not really sure they evoked the feelings it said they were meant to, but they made me smile when I’d catch a light whiff of them. I’ve never heard of Azuree (and really don’t think I’ve ever tried any of the Estee Lauder perfumes except via sampler at the counters) but it sounds intriguing and I think I’ll have to have a closer whiff of that one.
